Andy Wightman (born on 29. May 1963 in Dundee ) is a Scottish politician of the Scottish Green Party and non-fiction author.

Career

Wightman studied forest science at the University of Aberdeen and then worked as an environmental scientist , before becoming a freelance consultant and book author in 1992. Technically, he focused, among other issues of large estates , the land use , the land reform , the crown estate , the fate of public goods and the strengthening of local democratic structures. In February 2015 he was sent as a representative of the Greens to a commission of inquiry of the Scottish government to revise the system of local taxes. Wightman lives in Edinburgh .

politics

For the election to the Scottish Parliament in 2016 , Wightman was nominated by the Greens in second place for the Lothian electoral region behind Alison Johnstone . Due to the good election result for the party, both entered parliament . Among other things, Wightman is campaigning for the European Charter of Local Self-Government to be incorporated into Scottish law.
