Manfred Weiß (border victim)
Manfred Weiß (born December 1, 1943 , † May 19, 1962 near Henneberg ) was a member of the GDR border troops .
Life
The bricklayer did military service with the border troops of the GDR in Hermannsfeld and most recently had the rank of private . On May 19, 1962, Weiss, who was a post leader at the time, was killed by his deserted post Günter Jablonski during a border patrol in Unterharles near Henneberg by four shots in the back. The shooter was sentenced to nine years in prison by the Schweinfurt regional court in 1962 for murder. In 1979 he was sentenced to life imprisonment by the GDR Military Court for murder and desertion. For the second sentence, of which he served ten years, he later received 37,200 euros in imprisonment .
