Günter Jablonski (born January 7, 1944 ) is a former member of the GDR border troops and a criminally convicted murderer .

Life

Günter Jablonski shot dead his post leader Manfred Weiß as a member of the border troops on May 19, 1962 and then fled across the border into the Federal Republic. The Schweinfurt Regional Court sentenced Jablonski on December 14, 1962 for murder to a youth sentence of nine years, which he served until his parole on March 1, 1968. After the probationary period had passed without any complaints, the remainder of the sentence was waived by order of the Münchberg District Court on March 3, 1971.

When Jablonski wanted to travel with his family to West Berlin on the transit highway on December 18, 1978, he was arrested by the GDR border security organs at the Helmstedt-Marienborn border crossing . The military high court Berlin sentenced him on 12 June 1979 for the murder of the guard leader in coincidence with desertion in hard case to life imprisonment . The trial was held in camera. However, a legal expert from the Permanent Mission of the Federal Republic of Germany was allowed to take part in the negotiation. His appeal was rejected by the Supreme Court of the GDR with a judgment of July 25, 1979. On December 15, 1988 he was released and expelled to the federal territory. Jablonski applied for compensation , which he was initially denied. After a long litigation, the Federal Administrative Court decided on October 24, 2002, as the last instance, that Jablonski was entitled to 37,200 euros in compensation.
