Mangian wax bleach
The Mang'sche wax bleaching facility at Oberen Königstrasse 13 in Bamberg was the property of the councilor and wax bleacher Johann Joseph Mang (1706–1766). The preserved listed residential building was erected around 1730/40.
description
The Mang'sche wax bleaching facility on the formerly 40-meter-wide and 270-meter-long property consisted of a representative city palace and a large garden to the north, in which the brown-yellowish beeswax was bleached in wooden boxes . To beautify the garden, sculptures , broderie parterren , treillages and other accessories were placed between the 348 wooden boxes . There were company buildings and pleasure buildings along the garden . This includes the recently restored Ascension Pavilion , which is named after the ceiling fresco depicting the Assumption of Mary .
