Crew truck

The team truck ( MLW ) is the vehicle of most of the specialist groups of the technical relief organization . He transports personnel, material and equipment of the units to the place of use.

A total of five types of crew trucks are defined by StAN for service at THW, but only the last two of these are currently planned in the THW vehicle planning. The old vehicles of the first three types are no longer being built, but some of them are still in use.

Crew truck 1

MLW 1 of the OV Bad Oldesloe

The MLW 1 is usually a vehicle with a double cab and a loading area with a tarpaulin and bows. It offers 7 seats and has a payload of up to 2 tons, the maximum trailer load is less than 2 tons. The designation crew truck 1 is also used for former repair troop vehicles ( ITrKW ), which served as the base vehicles for all repair trains . After these trains were disbanded, the vehicles were used for command and transport tasks. Vehicles of this type are currently no longer being procured by the THW.

Crew truck 2

MLW 2 (Unimog) of the OV Alsfeld

The MLW 2 is usually a Unimog 435 and is particularly suitable for off-road transport tasks. Most of the vehicles come from the Bundeswehr. The vehicles have 3 seats and a payload of up to 2 tons. The maximum trailer load is 9.5 tons. Vehicles of this type are currently no longer being procured by the THW.

Crew truck 3

MLW 3 of FGr Bel Büren

The MLW 3 offers space for 9 people and has a payload of up to 3 tons. After the rescue trains were disbanded , the team vehicles were either used as GKW 2 in the 2nd rescue group or as MLW 3 in a specialist group. Vehicles of this type are currently no longer being procured by the THW.

Crew truck 4

MLW 4 of the FGr WP Treptow-Köpenick

The type IV crew truck (MLW IV, also: MLW 4) is usually designed as a vehicle with a double cabin and is suitable for off-road use. It has a flatbed / tarpaulin structure, transports a crew of 1 + 6 and has a payload of up to 3 t. The trailer load is up to 5 t.

MLW 5 of FGr LOG-V OV Montabaur

The team truck type V (MLW V, also: MLW 5) is used in the specialist group Sprengen , the specialist group Logistics , the specialist group Infrastructure and the specialist group drinking water supply . It transports a crew of 1 + 5 and a payload of up to 1.2 t. The MLW 5 is the smallest type of crew truck of the THW and is mounted on a small truck or delivery van as standard. If necessary, it can also be used to transport explosives.
