Life

Mano Dayak was born "between the year of the great drought and that of the locust plague" in the wadi of Tidène in the Aïr , around 1950, and grew up in the Sahara . He attended the nomad school and a grammar school in Agadez . He studied in the USA and Paris , but never finished his studies because he traveled back to his homeland to support his people in the struggle for freedom and their acceptance. After his return he founded a travel agency with his future wife Odile (with whom he later has two sons, Mawli and Madani) in order to give his people work and to bring the way of life and the situation of the Tuareg closer to the world. He energetically used all his energy to facilitate negotiations between the Tuareg and the surrounding states. He was the champion of the peace treaty signed on April 24, 1995 by the Niger government and the Tuareg rebels. On the way to Niamey on December 15, 1995, on the way to peace negotiations , Mano Dayak died when the plane exploded during take-off due to causes that are still unknown.

Agadez International Airport was named after him.
