Mantronix
The band Mantronix was the project of the DJ and producer Kurtis Mantronik . Born Kurtis Khaleel in Jamaica, Mantronik's family moved to New York in the 1970s , where he teamed up with MC Tee to record a demo tape that won them a record deal with Sleeping Bag Records . In 1986 they released the singles "Ladies" and "Basslines", followed by an LP. On later releases, the band stylistically migrated from hip-hop to ragga , techno and house . After the release of the LP "The Incredible Sound Machine" in 1991, Mantronix broke up.
