Manuel Correia de Lacerda

Manuel Correia de Lacerda (born June 21, 1679 in Lisbon , Portugal , † 1751 in Portuguese Timor ) was governor of the Portuguese Timor colony from 1748 to 1751 . He died while serving in the colony. Until the arrival of his successor Manuel Doutel de Figueiredo Sarmento , Father Jacinto da Conceição and João da Hornay took over the administration of the colony .

family

Lacerda was a Fidalgo da Casa Real , a nobleman from a royal family. The governor's parents were Manuel Correia de Lacerda, Fidalgo da Casa Real, and Luísa Maria Antónia de Portugal Coronel de Sá e Menezes. On both sides he was a descendant of the Portuguese King Alfonso I.

Manuel Correia de Lacerda was married twice. First marriage to Catarina de Mendonça Furtado, the second to Joana de Abreu Sampaio, whom he married in Macau in 1728. Lacerda had three sons and two daughters from her.
