Manuel Infante
Manuel Infante (born July 29, 1883 in Osuna near Seville , † April 21, 1958 in Paris ) was a Spanish composer and conductor .
life and work
Infante studied piano with Enric Morera in Barcelona and moved to Paris in 1909 , where he conducted concerts of Spanish music and devoted himself to composition. In France he also married the cellist Yvonne Cassadesus . The pianist José Iturbi was particularly committed to Infante's own compositions .
Among other things, Infante wrote an opera ( Almanza ), but his compositional focus was on the piano, for which he composed virtuoso dance and works influenced by Spanish folk music (especially his Andalusian homeland). His 3 Danzas andaluzas for 2 pianos, composed in 1921, are among the better-known compositions .
