Career

CF Universidad de Chile

Coming from the youth department of the club, Iturra made his debut for the CF Universidad de Chile in 2003 . In the second season, at the age of 20, he earned himself a regular place and was in over 200 games for La U in the following seven years . During this time he was allowed to celebrate the championship title twice with his team; they won the Apertura in 2004 and 2009 respectively . He also came to his first appearance for the national team in August 2005 in the 3-1 defeat in the friendly against Peru .

Via Portugal to Spain

In January 2011 Iturra made the leap to Europe and moved to União Leiria in the Portuguese Primeira Liga . Although in the following back series in almost all games in the starting line-up, he was awarded at the beginning of the 2011/12 season to the Spanish second division club Real Murcia . There he played his way directly into the first team and made 35 appearances for Murcia this season. At the same time, his parent club was in dire financial straits. Before the end of the season, 16 professionals canceled their contracts in Leiria due to outstanding salary payments. After his return, Iturra did the same and was a freelance player on the transfer market for a short time.

In August 2012, Málaga CF secured the services of the Chilean. Iturra thus came to an association that was also making a financial upheaval at that time. Sheikh Abdullah Al Thani , previously the club's generous donor, put the club up for sale in August 2012, which led to the departure of some notable players. Málaga, qualified for the Champions League due to the very successful preseason , started the new season with a heavily changed squad in which Iturra was able to earn a regular place. Despite the adverse circumstances, he made it to the quarter-finals of the Champions League with the club that same season.

Iturra moved to Granada FC for the 2013/14 season .
