Manuel Pallarès i Gray
Manuel Pallarès i Grau (born March 6, 1876 in Horta de Sant Joan , Terra Alta , † 1974 in Barcelona ) was a Spanish painter of academic and independent style and a childhood friend of the painter Pablo Picasso . He studied drawing in Tortosa and painting at the Escola de Belles Arts de Barcelona ("La Ljota") in Barcelona, where he met Picasso in 1895. He was assistant to José Ruiz Blasco , Picasso's father, who also worked at the “La Ljota” art academy.
