In 1986 he settled with his family in La Laguna de Los Llanos de Aridane on La Palma .

His sculptures are in the parks and gardens of Madrid , Santander , Villa de Noja in Spain as well as in Mexico, Switzerland, the USA or France and from 1986 also on La Palma.

At the beginning his works were very figurative like busts of well-known people on La Palma ( Manuel Morales Perez ) or portraits in the town hall of Los Llanos. The 6 meter high monument to the mother ( Monomento a la Madre ) from 1995 is considered a representative monument of the city of Los Llanos.

Later the sculptor turned to the abstract design of his works, although it was not easy on La Palma to introduce abstract art into the more rural communities. Its mighty, curved steel figures blend into the island's landscape and can be found in eleven of the island's fourteen communities. He is therefore also known as the father of Arte en la Calle on La Palma. The largest abstract work he has realized on La Palma is the Monumento a la Naturaleza between El Paso and the tunnel, which the Palmeros call Arbol de la Graja (the crow's tree).

Manuel Pereda de Castro was also active as a set designer for the carnival, the art festival in Los Llanos de Aridane, the production of musicals and made murals, drawings and jewelry and ironwork.

At the plenary meeting of the Cabildo de La Palma on November 30, 2018, the artist Manuel Pereda de Castro was posthumously awarded the title of Honorary Citizen of the Island of La Palma ( Hijo Adoptivo de la Isla de La Palma ).
