Manuel de Aráujo Serrano (born June 17, 1972 in Portuguese Timor ) is an East Timorese diplomat.

Career

Serrano studied civil engineering in East Java . In 1997 he was General Manager of the Jakarta Foundation and in 1998 a member of the Central Information Department of Information Jakarta. In 2002 Serrano worked for the Xanana Gusmão Foundation .

From 2005 to 2006 Serrano served as Chief of Staff to Foreign Minister José Ramos-Horta , then he was East Timor’s Consul General in Bali .

On January 29, 2009, Serrano was appointed by José Ramos-Horta, now President , to succeed Ovídio Amaral as East Timor's ambassador to Indonesia . Serrano gave his accreditation on February 18, 2009. In 2016 he was succeeded by Alberto Carlos .

Serrano is now General Director of the Serviço Nacional de Inteligência SNI (as of 2018).
