María Álvarez

María Álvarez (born March 28, 1987 ) is a Venezuelan weightlifter .

Career

Álvarez reached fourth place in the class up to 77 kg at the Pan American Championships in 2009. In 2010 she was seventh at the Pan American Championships. At the world championships in the same year, she finished 17th. In 2011 she won gold at the South American Championships and bronze at the Pan American Games . At the 2011 World Championships she was 16. At the 2013 Pan American Championships, Álvarez reached fourth place. In the same year, however, a training check tested positive for stanozolol and banned by the world association IMF for two years.
