María de Fátima Geraldes

María de Fátima Geraldes Siragusa (born May 7, 1953 ) is a Dominican pianist.

Life

Geraldes had their first piano lessons from their mother, the pianist Mary Siragusa . She then studied at the Conservatory with Manuel Rueda . From 1973 she took lessons at the Escuela de Bellas Artes in Florence. Until 1979 she studied piano and accompaniment at the Music Academy and the Conservatory in Vienna.

Geraldes made her debut as a pianist in 1971 at the Biblioteca Nacional in Santo Domingo. With the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional she performed works by Beethoven , Mendelssohn Bartholdy , Ravel and Rachmaninow . With the Cantantes Líricos de Bellas Artes she performed piano arrangements of Haydn's The Creation (1983) and Beethoven's Fidelio (1985).

Since 1988 she has represented the Dominican Republic as a cultural ambassador together with the soprano Ivonne Haza . In 1995 she recorded her first CD, u. a. with compositions by Bullumba Landestoy , another CD with works by Julio Alberto Hernández was released two years later. Geraldes teaches piano accompaniment and chamber music at the Conservatorio Nacional de Música and is a pianist with the Ballet Clásico Nacional de la República Dominicana .
