Ivonne Haza

Ivonne Haza del Castillo (born December 25, 1938 in San Pedro de Macorís ) is a Dominican soprano .

Life

Haza studied at the Santo Domingo Conservatory and made her debut in 1958 as a singer at a chamber concert in honor of the dictator Trujillo . From 1961 she studied at the Conservatorio de Música Santa Cecilia in Rome with Elena D'Ambrossio , Ines Alfani-Tellini and Roberto Caggiano .

Haza's repertoire encompasses all genres of vocal music from operettas and operas to requiems and symphonic poems and songs. With the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional of the Dominican Republic she performed under the Dominican conductors Manuel Simó , Carlos Piantini , Rafael Villanueva , Julio de Windt , Manuel Marino Miniño and José Antonio Molina and guest conductors such as Roberto Caggiano , Carlos Chávez , Enrique García Asensio , Paul Engel and Robert Carter Austin up. Her musical partners included u. a. Olga Azar , Arístides Incháustegui , Luis Rivera , Roberto Caggiano, Lilliam Columna , Jacinto Gimbernard , Luis Frías Sandoval , Rafael Félix Gimbernard , Rafael Sánchez Cestero , Manuel Simó, Dagmar White , Criolla Hidalgo , Fausto Cepeda , Rafael Gil Castro , Vito Castorina and Enriquillo Cerón .

Haza sang compositions by Maurice Ravel , Heitor Villa-Lobos , Lukas Foss , José de Jesús Ravelo , Leo Brouwer and Enrique de Marchena y Dujarric . She appeared in leading roles in the operas Cavalleria rusticana and Los Payasos and the Zarzuelas Luisa Fernanda , La leyenda del beso and El cafetal . Concert tours and appearances have taken her to the USA, Puerto Rico, Mexico and Cuba. With the pianist Manuel Rueda she took part in the Festival Latinoamericano de las Artes in San Juan. Together with the pianist María de Fátima Geraldes , she represented the Dominican Republic at the Cervantino Festival in Mexico in 1988 . In the same year he recorded the CDs Entrega , Joyas de Navidad and Sueños .

In addition, Haza taught for many years at the Conservatorio Nacional de Música , was artistic director of the Teatro Nacional for five years and directed the Cantantes Líricos de Bellas Artes . She was u. a. awarded the Dominican Order de Duarte Sánchez y Mella and the Italian Order of Merit.
