Arístides Incháustegui

Arístides Incháustegui Reynoso (born May 3, 1938 in Santo Domingo ; † November 21, 2017 ibid) was a Dominican singer and historian.

Incháustegui had his first music lessons with the organist Rafael Bello Peguero . He studied with José Dolores Cerón and took singing lessons at the Conservatorio Nacional with Dora Martén . In 1956 he made his debut at the Palacio de Bellas Artes in the tenor role of Gabriel Fauré's Requiem .

Like many musicians of his generation, Incháustegui was decisively promoted by the radio station La Voz Dominicana . In the program La Hora del Moro he sang traditional Dominican songs , accompanied by Rafael Solano and his orchestra. In the early 1960s he performed in Canada, Puerto Rico and the United States. In New York between 1963 and 1970 he perfected his vocal technique with Giulio Gary , Tina Paggi , Cornelius L. Reid and Eugene Morgan and took lessons in stage performance with Frank Corsaro , Anthony Amato and David Lloyd .

With the performance of the opera Il Pagliacci by Ruggiero Leoncavallo , he founded the Compañía Opera Dominicana in 1974 , which had its venues in the Auditórium de Bellas Artes de Santo Domingo and in the Politécnico de Santiago . In 1976 he appeared as solo tenor in Giuseppe Verdi's Requiem under the direction of Vincent La Selva in Providence / Rhode Island. In the same year he appeared in Verdi's Giovanna d'Arco in New York and in Newport alongside Anna Moffo and Robert Merrill in his La traviata . In 1978 he performed a repertoire of Dominican songs at Carnegie Hall and sang at the Maison de L'Amerique Latine in Paris , accompanied by the pianist Miriam Ariza and the violinist Jacinto Gimbernard (recording: Recital de Música Dominicana en París ). In 1980 he became the first director of Cantantes Líricos de Bellas Artes .

Incháustegui's first recordings were made in 1963. The album Antología de la canción dominicana was created with Jacinto Gimbernard, Manuel Rueda and Julio Alberto Hernández and the singers Geraldo Taveras , Casandra Damirón , Domingo Reynoso and Juan Lockward . The album Canciones Dominicanas de Navidad was recorded under the direction of Bienvenido Bustamante López and with the singers Luchy Vicioso and Maridalia Hernández .

Under the title Conozca nuestra música Incháustegui published articles on Dominican artists and musicians in the Listín Diario between 1973 and 1976 . He wrote several works on Dominican history and music history, including Cronología del Altar de la Patria and Apuntes para la historia del Himno Nacional . In 1994 he published an album and a biography of the singer Eduardo Brito on behalf of the Ministry of Culture . The following year his autobiography Por Amor al Arte was published .
