Manuel Rueda

Manuel Antonio Rueda González (born August 27, 1921 in Monte Cristi , † December 20, 1999 in Santo Domingo ) was a Dominican writer and pianist.

Rueda studied at the Liceo Musical with María Luisa Nanita and Olivia Pichardo and was later a student of Manuela Jiménez . He continued his studies at the Conservatory of Santiago de Chile with Rosita Renard and undertook a concert tour through South America as a pianist with Armando Palacios Bate , after which he was awarded the Premio Orrego Carvallo in Santiago .

When he returned to the Dominican Republic after fourteen years, he became director of the Liceo Musical Pablo Claudio in San Cristóbal and later piano professor at the Conservatorio de Santo Domingo . During Festival Interamericano de Música in 1972 he played with the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional de la República Dominicana George Gershwin's Piano Concerto in F .

In addition, Rueda was an employee of the Instituto de Investigaciones folklóricas of the Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña . In 1974 he founded the avant-garde literary movement of pluralism . He emerged as a poet, playwright and essayist and was honored as a member of the Facultad de Ciencias y Artes Musicales of the Universidad de Chile , was a member of the Academia Dominicana de la Lengua and was awarded the Orden de Duarte, Sánchez y Mella by the Dominican government in 1977 excellent. He received the Premio Anual de Literatura six times and in 1995 the Premio Teatral Tirso de Molina .
