Ramon Francisco

Ramón Francisco (born October 21, 1929 in Puerto Plata ) is a Dominican poet and essayist.

Francisco grew up in Santiago de los Caballeros and came to Santo Domingo to study at the age of fifteen. He became known as a poet in 1952 in the Los Juglares group, which was directed by Manuel Valerio and which included Rafael Astacio , Pedro Guzmán Perdomo and Tomás Pujols Sanabia . He later joined the artist group El Puño , whose members included Miguel Alfonseca , René del Risco Bermúdez , Armando Almánzar , Norberto Santana , José Ramírez Conde , Jeannette Miller , Antonio Lockward Artiles and Marcio Veloz Maggiolo . In addition to poems, he published essays and literary criticism in which he devoted himself to the promotion of Dominican literature.

Francisco studied economics at the Universidad de Santo Domingo until 1957 . He was President of the Instituto de Contadores Públicos Autorizados de la República Dominicana and State Secretary in the Ministry of Finance. He was also a member of the Asociación Internacional de Contabilidad and the Cámara Americana de Comercio .
