René del Risco Bermúdez

René del Risco Bermúdez (born May 8, 1937 in San Pedro de Macoris , † December 20, 1972 in Santo Domingo ) was a Dominican writer and publicist.

The grandson of the writer Federico Bermúdez and cousin of the presenter Yaqui Núñez del Risco studied law in Santo Domingo at the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo in the late 1950s . He joined the resistance against the dictator Rafael Trujillo , was arrested in 1960 and deported to Puerto Rico.

After the fall of Trujillo, he returned to the Dominican Republic and devoted himself to literature. With Marcio Veloz Maggiolo , Miguel Alfonseca , Ramón Francisco and others he founded the cultural group El Puño . In addition, he directed radio programs such as Atardecer and Montecarlo . He published several volumes of poetry and short stories. The novel El cumpleaños de Porfirio Chávez , which dealt with the consequences of the Trujillo dictatorship, he left unpublished. It was published posthumously by the Ediciones Cielonaranja . Del Risco was killed in a car accident in 1972.
