AW Turner

AW Turner (* presumably in England ; † unknown) was an amateur boxer and sports official who later excelled as a football coach . He lived as a businessman in Hamburg , where he also operated under his full, Germanized name, Albert Wilhelm Turner .

life and career

Turner became known as an athlete in Hamburg when he became (unofficial) German amateur boxing champion in two weight classes in 1912 and 1913. Joined the Hamburg soccer club as early as 1910 , he later belonged to the soccer league committee of its successor HSV and trained its 1st team several times on an honorary basis, for example in the seasons 1920/21 (until April), 1922/23 , 1925/26 (from December 1925) and 1932/33 (until April). With her he won the North German Championship three times and once, in 1923, the German Championship, after the one won in 1922 was waived.
