Dorshi Lobsang Thubten Chöphel ; tib. dor zhi blo bzang thub bstan chos' phel དོར་ ཞི་ བློ་ བཟང་ ཐུབ་ བསྟན་ ཆོས་ འཕེལ་; (* 1936 in Dorshi, Tianzhu , Gansu ), Dorshi for short , the 6th Dorshi Rinpoche ( dor zhi rin po che ) from the Gelug School of Tibetan Buddhism, is one of the most important Tibetologists in China. Dorshi Rinpoche is also one of the most important Tibetan teachers within the borders of the PRC, especially in Amdo. a. also takes a critical look at how Buddhism is perceived by ordinary believers and to what extent this view leads to deficits in social engagement. A special feature of his work is work on Tibetan Tantra Qigong

Dorshi teaches at the Institute for Tibetan Language and Culture at the Nationality University of the Northwest in Lanzhou, Gansu Province .

Life

He was born in 1936 in a small Tibetan village in Tianzhu. At the age of five he was selected by Rinpoche Ouqu , the Great Sutracarya of the Tenth Penchen Lama (1938-1989), as the reincarnation of the Fifth Rinpoche and abbot of the Dorshi Monastery . At the age of nine he officially became abbot of Dorshi Monastery. At the age of sixteen he became the principal sutracarya (great sutras) of the Gelugpa monastery Chörten Thang in Tianzhu . In his childhood and early teens he studied with several important and well-known high-ranking teachers of Tibetan Buddhism. He has achieved the mastery of the Tibetan Buddhist through extensive study and practice from various schools:
