Matthias Stührwoldt

Matthias Stührwoldt (born January 23, 1968 in Neumünster ) is a German farmer and author . He lives in Stolpe in the Plön district in Schleswig-Holstein and writes stories and poems about life in the country in Northern Germany , especially in Low German .

Live and act

Matthias Stührwoldt grew up on his parents' farm. Before he took over the farm in 1998, he worked as an educator for a total of six years . In 2002 he switched the farm to organic farming in accordance with Bioland guidelines. He cultivates around 70 hectares and keeps around 60 dairy cows. Stührwoldt has been married since 1991 and has five children.

Since 1993, in addition to his agricultural activities, Stührwoldt has been writing short stories about rural life for the magazine Independent Farmers Voice of the Working Group on Farming Agriculture . In 2003 he published his first book in love with trekkers with a print run of 500 copies. From 2011 to 2013 he wrote a column in the taz titled Grünland as well as country stories in Tina Land und Menschen . Since 2010 he has been the author and speaker for the Low German series Hör mal 'n prayen to on the NDR radio program . Since then he has mainly published in Low German. Seven books with a total print run of 100,000 had been published by 2012.

At irregular intervals, Matthias Stührwoldt is one of those northern German farmers whose everyday life the NDR documentary program Hofgeschichten gives an insight into.

Matthias Stührwoldt is a community council member ( Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ) in the Stolpe community council and deputy mayor.
