Maral Bazargani (* February 22, 1990 in Tehran as Seyedeh Maral Feizbakhsh Bazargani ) is a journalist and a former German athlete . She was mainly a 400 meter runner.

Life

Maral Bazargani was born in Iran, but came to Germany at the age of four months and grew up in Mainz . It started in 2003 for the USC Mainz . Due to the beginning of her studies, she is studying journalism and public relations at the Westphalian University of Applied Sciences in Gelsenkirchen , Bazargani switched to TV Wattenscheid 01 at the beginning of 2010 . In Mainz she was trained by Harry Letzelter , in Wattenscheid Slawomir Filipowski is her trainer. She achieved her first international success at the U20 European Championships in 2009, where she won the silver medal with the 4 x 400 meter relay .

Bazargani achieved her first success with women at the German Indoor Championships in 2012 , where she won the bronze medal over 400 meters. At the German Open Air Championships, where the starting places for the European Championships in Helsinki and the 2012 Olympic Games in London were awarded, she was eliminated due to a false start. At the sports festival in Dormagen in early July, there was another opportunity to qualify for the Olympic 4 x 400 meter relay. Bazargani took advantage of this chance and qualified for the German Olympic team in a new personal best of 53.24 seconds. At the end of July in Weinheim she improved this time by two tenths of a second to 53.04 s.

With the end of the outdoor season in 2014, she ended her sporting career in order to be able to devote herself to her profession as a journalist. From April 2015 to October 2016, she completed an internship at Südwestrundfunk (SWR). After a year in the sports department of the SWR in Stuttgart, she has been working for the logo ! Kids news since October 2017 . She has also been a reporter there since June 2018. On June 24, 2020, she presented the logo! Children's news for the first time.

As a track and field athlete, Bazargani ran under the name Maral Feizbakhsh. However, she works as a journalist under the name Maral Bazargani - the other half of her original surname. In 2016, her name was officially shortened to Bazargani.
