Marc Jost

Marc Jost (born February 6, 1974 in Thun ) is a Swiss politician ( EPP ).

education and profession

Marc Jost grew up in Spiez . He attended the teachers' college after graduating from secondary school . He then worked from 1995 to 1998 as a secondary school teacher in Hofstetten near Brienz . He then went on to study at the St. Chrischona Theological Seminary , which he completed with a BA in Theology in 2003. After working as a pastor in the Evangelical Community Organization in Thun between 2003 and 2010, he took over the management of the Interaction Association. He has been General Secretary of the Swiss Evangelical Alliance since 2012 .

Political career

From 2003 to 2007 Jost worked as personal assistant to National Councilor Heiner Studer . Jost has been a member of the Grand Council of the Canton of Bern since 2006 . From 2006 to 2012 he worked on the Justice Commission; between 2010 and 2012 as its vice-president. From 2013 to 2016 he was on the Presidium of the Grand Council. In 2015/16 he was the “highest Berner”. From 2016 to 2018 he was on the Security Commission, and since 2018 he has been President of the Commission on State Policy and External Relations.

Private

Jost is married and has four children. He is involved with the movement plus in Thun and plays volleyball with the MTV Strättligen.
