After graduating from the College of St. Michael in Freiburg , Moret studied at the University of Freiburg and the Sorbonne in Paris, and obtained his doctorate in economics in Freiburg in 1949 . The new company was headed by Daniel Vasella , the husband of a niece of Moret.

A brother of Marc Moret was the composer Norbert Moret (1921-1998).
