Marc Schemmel (born February 10, 1975 in Hamburg ) is a German politician ( SPD ) and has been a member of the Hamburg Parliament since 2015 .

Life

Schemmel graduated from high school in 1994 at Ohmoor. He completed his history and politics studies at the University of Hamburg in 2003 . Since then he has been working as a research assistant for Niels Annen , member of the Bundestag .

In 1993 Schemmel joined the SPD. Since 2008 he has been chairman of the SPD district of Hamburg-Niendorf. Since 1998 he has been active in local politics in the Lokstedt local committee (Niendorf, Lokstedt, Schnelsen). In 2008 Schemmel was elected to the Eimsbüttel district assembly. As parliamentary group spokesman, he continued to represent the districts of Niendorf , Lokstedt and Schnelsen in the Lokstedt regional committee and was also the parliamentary group spokesman for the areas of environmental, green, consumer protection and sports policy. Schemmel was re-elected in the district assembly elections in 2011 and 2014 . Schemmel was elected by the district assembly to the aircraft noise protection commission, the Niendorf-Nord district advisory board and the district sports facility construction advisory board . As a result of his entry into the Hamburg citizenship in 2015, Schemmel resigned from his district assembly mandate.

In the 2015 citizenship election , Schemmel was elected to the citizenship of the Lokstedt-Niendorf-Schnelsen constituency with 15,123 votes. In 2020 he received 52,801 votes in the general election in the same constituency.
