The Statistical Office for Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein is an institution under public law with headquarters in the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg and the central statistical and information service provider for both countries in Hamburg and Kiel . It emerged from the merger of the former statistical state offices. The office provides information and analysis services for the sponsoring countries and the public. The core business of the North Statistics Office is the implementation of official statistics for Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein.
Official statistics in association
The nationwide official statistics are compiled in cooperation with the Federal Statistical Office and the statistical offices of the federal states. The "European Statistics Code of Conduct" applies to official statistics.
Organization and staff
The North Statistics Office emerged from the merger of the former regional statistical offices and was set up on January 1, 2004 as an institution under public law. It is based in Hamburg and has locations in Kiel and Hamburg. At the end of 2016, the North Statistics Office had 354 employees.
A five-person board of directors with representatives from the internal and financial departments as well as an employee representative controls and decides on fundamental matters.
The board member Renate Cohrs heads the office and runs the business. The board is represented by Sven Wohlfahrt.
The office is divided into four departments:

- Central production control, company register , IT management: Sven Wohlfahrt
- Cross-sectional tasks - Head: Sandra Gulla

Data delivery to the Federal Statistical Office
The North Statistics Office provides around 160 different statistics for Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein with a total of around 1250 dates (as of 2014).

Results tables for the individual statistics in a detailed structure; Hamburg street and area directory and Schleswig-Holstein directories, z. B. the municipalities, and schools.

Tables and figures from almost all areas of official statistics and comparisons with other federal states.
Regional statistical information
Provision of regional data, e.g. B. for the Hamburg districts, the metropolitan region of Hamburg and the municipalities and districts of Schleswig-Holstein, as print publications or on the Internet.
Election statistics and analysis
Determination of the election results for the state returning officers on election evening, statistical processing, election analysis for Hamburg.
Information service
Statistical information service for everyone at both locations; Reference library with around 90,000 media units.
