biography

Marcel Francisci was a politician who had been elected to the Council of the Corse-du-Sud department for the Gaullist Party . He was also the owner of a thriving international casino casino.

In the 1960s Francisci did everything the undisputed Mafia godfather of Marseille , Antoine Guérini , the supremacy in heroin smuggling into the United States to snatch; a struggle waged with relentless severity on both sides.

Rumor has it that the Guerinis, allied with the Socialist Party , were behind the October 8, 1964 operation in which drug police raided Francisci's mansion and blew up his heroin laboratory. Conversely, the arson attack on the Guérinis-owned Club Méditerranée is attributed to an act of revenge by Francisci.

Antoine Guérini was killed in an attack on a gas station in Marseilles in June 1967, and it is believed that Francisci had a hand in it. After two other Guérini brothers were sentenced to 20 and 15 years in prison for murder, respectively, in January 1970, the Guérini dynasty was a thing of the past and Francisci was the new boss of the Marseilles underworld.

But he too ended like Guérini almost 15 years later. He was shot and killed trying to get into his car after leaving his home. As early as 1958, there had been assassination attempts on Francisci in Corsica and nine years later near his house west of Paris.

A hero in Corsica

While Francisci was a feared gang boss, who only gave instructions and was therefore difficult to prosecute, he, an award-winning veteran of the Second World War , was considered a benefactor in his home country of Corsica who financed the construction of roads, schools and clinics and was therefore a contributor enjoyed hero status among the islanders.
