Marcel Landers (born August 24, 1984 in Oberhausen ) is a former German soccer player .
Career
Marcel Landers was born in Oberhausen and learned to play football at Rot-Weiß Oberhausen . After going through all the youth classes, he was part of the second RWO team until 2005 and then joined the first team that played in the Regionalliga Nord . In his first season Landers rose with the club. In the following upper league year 2006/07 he rose again to the Regionalliga Nord and then mastered promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga with RWO . On the 2nd match day of the 2008/09 season , Landers made his second division debut against FC Ingolstadt 04 . In the following three years Marcel Landers came to a total of 76 appearances in the 2nd Bundesliga, in which he was, however, often substituted on or off.
After the 2010/11 season ended for RWO with relegation to the 3rd division , Landers signed a two-year contract with the regional division Wuppertaler SV Borussia in June 2011 . In January 2013 he dissolved his contract there and returned to Rot-Weiß Oberhausen . For the 2014/15 season he became captain of the Oberhausen U-23 reserve, and in January 2016 he joined the regional league club DJK Arminia Klosterhardt. It was there that Landers finally ended his active career in the spring of 2017.
