Marcel Sökler (born March 26, 1991 in Nagold ) is a German soccer player who is currently under contract with SGV Freiberg .

Career

In 2003, Marcel Sökler played in the youth team at VfB Stuttgart , where he was no longer wanted in 2005 because he was too small and too weak. He then moved to TuS Ergenzingen , where he played up to the A-youth level and at the same time had his first assignments in the men's team. Finally he moved to the U19 of TSG 1899 Hoffenheim , with whom he won the DFB Cup against Hertha BSC . The 1.88 m tall striker was even used in the last seven minutes of the DFB Cup final. Then Sökler was ordered into the U23 regional league team of TSG, but was thrown back from several injuries and was not used at all.

Finally, during the 2010/11 winter break, Marcel Sökler decided to move to SGV Freiberg in the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg , where he scored a goal in seven appearances in the second half of the season. With the club he was relegated to the Württemberg Association League, but managed to return immediately with the championship win in the 2011/12 season, with Sökler scoring eight goals in 25 games.

In summer 2012 he moved to 1. FC Saarbrücken , where his brother Sven also played. On the first day of the third division he was substituted on for his brother in the 88th minute and thus came to his first three minutes in this league.

A year later, Sökler moved to SV Waldhof Mannheim , for whom he played for three years. In his last season 2015/16 he was champion of the Regionalliga Südwest with SV Waldhof, but Mannheim failed in the promotion games to the 3rd division to Sportfreunde Lotte . Sökler left SV Waldhof in the summer and returned to his former club SGV Freiberg. He led the club, relegated from the league, with 20 goals this season to the association league championship and direct re-promotion. In the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg he reached third place with the promoted team. In this 2017/18 season he was the top scorer with 29 goals this season .
