Sven Sökler (born November 9, 1984 in Nagold ) is a German soccer player .

Career

Sökler came through the youth departments of Haiterbach , Ergenzingen and Stuttgart (VfB) to the first team of Ergenzingen, but then tried his hand at professional football: At the Stuttgarter Kickers, he moved from the second to the first team under coach Robin Dutt and played in the third-rate Regionalliga Süd . In 2008 he switched to the regional league competitor SSV Reutlingen , where Sökler did not get going.

In the winter break of 2008/09 he switched to the regional league team SV Darmstadt 98 , where Sökler was convincing and was able to develop into a public hero over the following seasons. At the end of the 2010/11 season, the lilies were promoted to the 3rd division, in which Sökler played a major role. His goal to make it 3-0 in the 4-0 win on matchday 34 against FC Memmingen was selected for the goal of the month for May 2011 at ARD-Sportschau. Only a few hours after the rise of SV 98, Sökler announced the move to third division club 1. FC Saarbrücken . In the summer of 2013, he then moved within the league to Heidenheim. He was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga with the Heidenheimers in summer 2014, but was not used there and returned to the Saarbrücken team, who had meanwhile been relegated to the regional league, at the end of August 2014 . As runner-up in the 2014/15 season , he failed with the FCS in the promotion games to return to the third division.

After three years with 1. FC Saarbrücken, Sökler joined FC Homburg in the Oberliga Rheinland-Pfalz / Saar in the 2017/18 season .

Private

His younger brother Marcel is also a soccer player and was active with him at 1. FC Saarbrücken in the 2012/13 season.
