Marceline is a city in the US state of Missouri . The city is a border town between Linn Counties and Chariton Counties . It is mostly in Linn County, but also partly in Chariton County. Walt Disney spent part of his childhood in Marceline and created a nostalgic monument to Marceline in the 1950s with the Main Street, USA area of Disneyland in Anaheim .

history

The city was founded in January 1888 as part of the construction of the Kansas City to Chicago rail line by the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway . She was named after the first name of the wife of one of the directors of the railway line. In the summer of 1888 it already had a population of around 2,500. Walt Disney's family lived here for only four years while he was in elementary school, but he was so impressed by the city that he made it the setting for the film Lady and the Tramp . Marceline also provided the inspiration for a significant part of Disney's theme parks.

The population of Marceline at the last census was 2221 people.
