José Marcelino Bolívar (born July 14, 1964 in Soledad near Ciudad Bolívar ) is a former Venezuelan boxer .
successes
José Marcelino Bolívar is bronze medalist of the Central American and Caribbean Games in 1982 and 1986, silver medalist of the South American Championships in 1983, and quarter-finalist of the Pan American Games in 1983 and the 1986 World Championships .
At the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles , he won a bronze medal after defeating Nelson Jamili, Agapito Gómez and Carlos Motta and only eliminated in the semi-finals against Paul Gonzales . At the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul , he was eliminated in the first fight against Jesús Beltre.
From 1989 to 1994 he played 21 professional fights in Venezuela, Panama and Thailand, of which he won 17, 16 of them prematurely. His opponents included Carlos Murillo and Kermin Guardia . In his last fight he boxed against Ratanapol Sor Vorapin for the IBF world title, but lost to TKo in the fourth round.
After his active career, he became a trainer in a fitness club named after him in Soledad.
