Marcelle Dauphin

Marcelle Dauphin (born September 7, 1893 in Luxembourg - Rollingergrund ; † May 4, 1976 in Pétange ) was the first female dentist in Luxembourg . As early as 1869, the German Henriette Hirschfeld-Tiburtius was the first woman in the world to achieve this position after completing an academic degree in the United States .

The unmarried 29-year-old Marcelle Dauphin from Hollerich received her Luxembourg dentist license on October 12, 1922. A year later, the Grand Duchy got Louise Welter (1897–1999) as its second doctor, a general practitioner .

In early 1923 she moved into her own practice in Wiltz , where her brother was a construction manager. A little later, from July 1, 1926, she settled in Luxembourg City, but continued to practice in Wiltz for a while on Sundays and Mondays. In 1953 she moved her practice to Pétange .
