Marcello Marchesi

Marcello Marchesi (born April 4, 1912 in Rome , † July 18, 1978 in Cabras ) was an Italian screenwriter and film director .

Life

Marchesi wrote as a humorist for several magazines such as “Il Bertoldo” and “Marc'Aurelio”, where he also met Vittorio Metz , with whom he formed a writing duo from then on. This resulted in numerous stories, many radio broadcasts and numerous sayings that have been passed over into advertising and theatrical language. For the stage, Marchesi and Metz also wrote pieces such as “Non c'è niente il male”, “Ritorna Za Bum”, “Riviera Follies” or “Sayonara Butterfly”, which were met with great success by stage stars like Riccardo Billi and Mario Riva , Ugo Tognazzi , Walter Chiari and Gino Bramieri were performed. The duo was just as active on television as it was on cabaret stages. From 1939 onwards, Marchesi wrote almost always and as usual with Metz, nearly seventy scripts, five of which both also directed five of them themselves.

Marchesi died in a swimming accident in Sardinia.
