Marcelo González , full name Marcelo González Barragán , (born July 18, 1988 in Montevideo ) is a Uruguayan football player .

Career

The 1.72-meter-tall defensive player González belonged to the youth division of Danubio FC at least in 2005 . In the 2006/07 season he is listed in the Clausura 2007 as a member of the professional squad and won the Uruguayan championship with the team. He contributed to the championship win with twelve first division appearances (no goal). In early February 2009 he moved from the Montevideans to the Greek club Levadiakos . In the 2009/10 season he completed eight games (no goal) in the Primera División for Danubio in the 2010 Clausura .

National team

González was a member of Uruguay 's U-17 team, coached by Gustavo Ferrín . With this he took part in the U-17 South American Championship in Venezuela in 2005 and became vice South American champion. At the U-17 World Cup in 2005 he was also part of the Uruguayan squad. In the course of the World Cup tournament, he played an international match (no goal).
