Marcelo Sánchez Sorondo (born September 8, 1942 in Buenos Aires , Argentina ) is a Curia Bishop of the Roman Catholic Church .

Life

Marcelo Sánchez Sorondo received on 7 December 1968, the sacrament of Holy Orders . In 1974 he obtained a diploma in Catholic theology from the Pontifical University of Saint Thomas Aquinas in Rome and in 1977 a diploma in philosophy from the University of Perugia .

From 1976 to 1998 Sánchez Sorondo was Professor of History of Philosophy at the Pontifical Lateran University . Marcelo Sánchez Sorondo was Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy at the Pontifical Lateran University from 1987 to 1996 . In 1998 he became professor of the history of philosophy at the Libera Università Maria Santissima Assunta in Rome. Sánchez Sorondo has been a member of the Pontifical Academy of Saint Thomas Aquinas since 1989 and its secretary since 1999. In 1998 he also became Chancellor of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences and the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences .

On 23 February 2001 appointed him Pope John Paul II. To the titular of Forum Novum . He was ordained bishop John Paul II on March 19, 2001 in St. Peter's Basilica ; Co-consecrators were Cardinal State Secretary Angelo Sodano and Giovanni Battista Cardinal Re . He is Vice-Grand Prior of the Order of Constantine . In 2009 he was elected a full member of the Academia Europaea .
