life and work

From 1495 to 1525 he was a lute virtuoso in the service of the Gonzaga family in Mantua , who promoted artists of all kinds in his time.

He created more than 100 homophonic , simple song sentences and was thus one of the main representatives of this type of sentence called Frottola . In addition, only a few works have survived, most of which were printed in Venice by Ottaviano Petrucci .

Cara probably died in 1525, as his widow remarried in 1526.
