Marchienne-au-Pont is a district of Charleroi in the province of Hainaut in the Walloon Region in Belgium . Marchienne-au-Pont was an independent municipality until the municipal reform in 1977 . This community had 17,000 inhabitants during the merger. Crossed by two waterways, the Sambre and the l'Eau d'heure , Marchienne used to be an important industrial center. Today, Arcelor still has a branch in Marchienne.
