Marco Di Piazza (born April 1, 1961 in Rome ) is an Italian artist.

Life

Di Piazza was born in Rome . Soon afterwards he moved with his parents near Siena . Di Piazza, son of an artist and a philosopher, studied art and architecture in Florence . After he had completed the restoration of a medieval chapel in the center of San Gimignano , he opened a gallery with an attached workshop there in 1989 and exhibited his drawings and sculptures made of stone, bronze and terracotta there. He ran the gallery for over 15 years and created some monumental sculptures. Today his works can be found in public and private collections in several countries around the world.

In 2003 Di Piazza moved the center of his life to Bonn. At his new place of residence he devotes himself more to drawing . Again and again he withdrew to his workshop in San Gimignano for a few months to make his large-format sculptures out of steel and iron. These materials have become his preferred means of expression in recent years. Di Piazza has recently been involved in an interdisciplinary didactic project based on the artistic and cultural richness of its home region of Tuscany and an expression of a new kind of relationship with its origins. Di Piazza lives and works both in Bonn and in San Gimignano .

Marco Di Piazza is married and has three children
