Marco Fertonani

Marco Fertonani (born July 8, 1976 in Genoa ) is a former Italian cyclist .

Marco Fertonani began his professional career in 2002 with the Swiss Phonak Cycling Team , for which he rode for three years. In his senior year, the good climber won a stage of the Tour of Qinghai Lake . In the 2005 season he rode for the Italian cycling team Domina Vacanze . He was strong at the Tour de Romandie and finished fifth overall. From 2006 he drove for the Spanish ProTour racing team Caisse d'Epargne . At the Vuelta a Castilla y León 2006 he won the fourth stage. He competed three times between 2004 and 2006 in the Giro d'Italia .

At the 2007 Mediterranean Tour, which Fertonani finished fourth, he tested positive for testosterone and banned for doping for two years . From this forced break he did not return to cycling and ended his career.
