Marco Maurer (* 1980 in Nördlingen ) is a German journalist and book author .

Life

Marco Maurer did an apprenticeship as a dairy specialist after completing secondary school and later also worked in this profession. In the following years he made up his Abitur at the Bayernkolleg Augsburg and studied German, politics and journalism at the University of Friborg .

From 2008 to 2010 he was trained as an editor at the German School of Journalism . Since 2010 he has been working regularly for the Süddeutsche Zeitung , Die Zeit and Bayerischer Rundfunk . Maurer has received several awards for his reports, portraits and radio features and is primarily concerned with social problems in Germany.

From an article for the weekly newspaper Die Zeit about the German school system and the lack of equal opportunities in Germany, the Droemer Knaur publishing house also produced a book called “You stay what you are - why our social background is still decisive”.
