Marco Oetken

Marco Oetken (* 1967 ) is a German chemistry teacher and university professor.

Life

Since 1989 Oetken has been studying chemistry and biology for teaching at grammar schools at the Carl von Ossietzky University in Oldenburg . After the 1st state examination (1994) followed in 1997 the doctorate to Dr. rer. nat. in the chemistry department at the University of Oldenburg. His doctoral supervisor was Walter Jansen . Since 1997 Oetken has been a lecturer in chemistry didactics at the University of Oldenburg and has been a habilitation candidate. At the same time, he passed the second state examination for teaching at grammar schools in Wilhelmshaven. In 2001 he completed his habilitation at the University of Oldenburg. In 2002 he followed a call to a C2 university professorship at the Weingarten University of Education. Since 2004 he has been a C3 professor for chemistry and its didactics at the Freiburg University of Education. He turned down calls for prestigious professorships at the Justus Liebig University of Gießen, the University of Oldenburg and the University of Münster and has been W3 professor for chemistry teaching at the Freiburg University of Education since 2012 .

Awards

  • In 1999 Oetken received the Manfred and Wolfgang Flad Prize together with Matthias Ducci .
  • As part of the Science Forum Chemistry 2017 (WiFo) in Berlin, he received the Heinz Schmidkunz Prize on September 12 .
  • Literature prizes 2018 for particularly outstanding specialist articles in chemistry & school (Austria).
