Marcos Juárez is a city in central Argentina and the capital of the Marcos Juárez department in the southeast of the province of Cordoba . The city is located on the Buenos Aires - Rosario - Córdoba railway line and, along with Bell Ville with around 25,000 inhabitants, is the economic and industrial center of the region.
history
In 1854 a stop was created on the Rosario-Córdoba road, which was initially called Posta del Espinillo . In 1866 the newly built railway line reached the place. This attracted settlers who set up their farms in the area. The city was not officially founded until 1887, it was named after a brother of the governor at the time, who was honored for fighting bandits in the region. Graciela Carnevale , who later became known as a conceptual artist, was born in Marcos Juárez in 1942 .
