Marcos Suzano

Marcos Suzano (* 1963 in Rio de Janeiro ) is a Brazilian percussionist .

Life

Even while Suzano was studying economics, he became interested in percussion instruments under the impression of the carnival parades in Rio de Janeiro. He started to play surdo and cuíca . After listening to Jorginho do Pandeiro , he eventually taught himself the pandeiro , which became his main instrument.

After completing his studies and then working in a bank, he decided to devote himself entirely to music and played in the group of Paulo Moura . He had other musical engagements with and with Zizi Possi , Água de Moringa , Marisa Monte , Zé Kéti , Gilberto Gil , Aquarela Carioca and Ney Matogrosso . In 1993 he recorded the album Olho de Peixe with Lenine .

Suzano's first solo album Sambatown was released in 1996, his second album Flash in 2000. His discography as a sideman includes more than a hundred albums.
