Marcus Campbell (artist)
Marcus Campbell (born August 24, 1951 in Taihape , New Zealand ) is a writer , painter and visual artist .

Marcus Campbell grew up in Napier . His parents are Barbara and Harry Campbell. He has two sisters, Greta (Brenman) and Claire (Clausen).
life and work
Marcus Campbell studied English literature and drama, set design and directing, including in California , from which he graduated with a master's degree. He then began a theater career. His plays have been performed in Auckland , Seattle , Juneau and New York . In 1977 he received a Commonwealth Scholarship , with which he studied directing in Canada and which he completed with a Master of Fine Arts . He published a number of short stories.
After twelve years at the theater, he withdrew, dealt intensively with Christian orthodoxy and spent a decade in a monastery on Mount Athos . In terms of art and craftsmanship, he dealt with horticulture and the production of the liturgical vestments worn in Orthodox worship . He then spent five years in Scotland , mostly in Edinburgh , and has lived in France ever since , now near Tarbes . There he devotes himself to art and earns his living as a caretaker. In recent years his focus has been on the art of objet trouvé .
