Marcus Cassel

Marcus Ray Cassel (born January 6, 1983 in Long Beach , California , † November 17, 2006 in Santa Monica , California) was an American professional football player .

The African American went to St. John Bosco High School in Bellflower , Los Angeles . From 2002 to 2005 he was a cornerback football player for the UCLA Bruins . In his senior year he achieved a score of 10: 2 for his team in 12 games as a starter. He graduated from the University of California (UCLA) with a degree in psychology.

As a free agent, he signed a contract for the Carolina Panthers in May 2006 , but stayed on the reserve bench with a hamstring injury. On November 17, 2006, at the age of 23, he died in Santa Monica from injuries sustained in a car accident.
