Marcus Dekiert (born January 1970 in Bergisch Gladbach ) is a German art historian and former director of the Alte Pinakothek in Munich. From March 1, 2013, he took over the management of the Wallraf-Richartz-Museum & Fondation Corboud in Cologne .

Life

Marcus Dekiert grew up in Cologne and attended the Apostelgymnasium in Cologne, which he graduated with a high school diploma. He studied art history at the University of Würzburg and at the University of Bonn . In 2000 he received his doctorate in Bonn with a dissertation on Dutch painting of the 16th and 17th centuries. As a scientific volunteer and employee, he worked at the State Art Gallery in Karlsruhe .

Dekiert has worked for the Alte Pinakothek in Munich since 2003; initially as a consultant for Dutch and German baroque painting, later as senior curator and since 2010 as responsible consultant. In 2007 he opened the branch gallery of the State Painting Collection in Bayreuth . The exhibitions he has curated since 2004 included u. a. the anniversary exhibition on the occasion of the 175th anniversary of the Alte Pinakothek Golden Age : Dutch group portraits from the Amsterdam Historical Museum in 2010/11. Since 2013 he has succeeded Andreas Blühm as director of the Wallraf-Richartz-Museum in Cologne.
