Marcus Grave
Marcus Grave (born June 20, 1778 in Itzehoe ; † June 26, 1820 ) was a German lawyer .
Life
Marcus Grave devoted himself to the study of jurisprudence and was particularly interested in criminal law . For several years he held the functions of a lower court lawyer and legal counsel on the noble Jensbeck estate. In 1817 he resigned from these offices and became mayor of Bad Segeberg , but only held this position for three years. He died on June 26, 1820 at the age of 42.
Grave was a well-educated man who had a thorough knowledge of other branches of science outside of his professional field, law, too. He lacked the leisure to do more extensive writing. He wrote the following treatises, among others:
- About a witch trial in 1667 , in: Schleswig-holsteinische Provinzialberichte , 1817, issue 2, p. 174 ff.
- A strange criminal court case , in: Schleswig-Holsteinische Provinzialberichte , 1818, Issue 5, p. 519 ff.
- A criminal law case on the Bürau estate from the beginning of the 18th century , in: Schleswig-holsteinische Provinzialberichte , 1820, issue 2, pp. 140 ff.
